Delete your Bonaca account
Last updated: October 2026
This page explains how to ask us to delete your Bonaca account and the data linked to it, what we delete, and what we keep. You can reach Bonaca’s developer at carebonaca@gmail.com.
You can also reach this page from inside the app: Profile → Delete Account.
Step 1 — Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account does not cancel billing. If you have an active Bonaca subscription, cancel it in Google Play before you ask us to delete your account:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon (top right).
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Bonaca and tap Cancel subscription.
If a family member pays for the subscription, they need to cancel it in their own Google Play account — deleting the parent’s account doesn’t stop their billing.
Step 2 — Request deletion
- Send an email to carebonaca@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my Bonaca account”.
- Send it from the email address linked to your Bonaca account, or include the phone number you registered with so we can find your account.
- We will verify that the account is yours before deleting anything — by asking you to reply from the email address linked to the account, or to confirm from inside the Bonaca app while you are signed in.
- Once verified, we delete your account and data as described below, and email you to confirm when it is done.
What we delete
Within 30 days of a verified request, we permanently delete:
- Your account and sign-in details — your phone number, any linked email address, and your sign-in record with our login provider (Firebase)
- Your profile — name, date of birth, gender, height, weight and profile photo
- Health and fitness data synced from your wearable (such as heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep and steps), and the insights and summaries we worked out from it
- Your wearable connections, including the connection to your Google account, and the data held for you by our wearable-data service (a self-hosted Open Wearables server that we run)
- Sharing permissions, invites and nicknames
- Your notifications and push-notification tokens
Tip: you can also remove Bonaca’s access to your Google account yourself at myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party connections.
What we keep, and for how long
- Purchase and payment records for subscriptions are kept only as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires — typically up to 8 years. These records do not include your health data.
- Backups. Our database backups are stored encrypted. Deleted data is not restored from them, and it ages out as backups expire: nightly backups are kept for 7 days and daily disk snapshots for 14 days, so your data is gone from all backups within about 22 days of being deleted from our live systems.
If your family uses Bonaca together
- If you are the parent (the person whose health data Bonaca tracks), deleting your account also removes your data from your family members’ view. If a family member pays for your subscription, they need to cancel it in their own Google Play account — deleting your account doesn’t stop their billing.
- If you are a family member who views a parent’s data, only your own account is deleted. The parent’s account and data are not affected.
